Collaboration with the World Health Organization

Ahpra is a designated World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Health Workforce Regulation.

There are over 800 institutions in more than 80 Member States working with the WHO on areas ranging from non-communicable and communicable diseases, to mental health, health technologies and building the health workforce of the future. We work in partnership with the WHO to promote best practice in health workforce regulation and promote access to quality health care.

Our work with the WHO

As a WHO collaborating centre, Ahpra:

• supports WHO in its activities towards the adoption of contemporary regulatory approaches to health workforce regulation
• assists WHO in providing technical support to strengthen health workforce regulatory systems in Member States, and
• upon request from WHO, strengthens the capacity, skills and knowledge of regulators in Member States under WHO’s guidance.

Regional network of Health Workforce Regulators

The Western Pacific Regional Network of Health Workforce Regulators is a vital part of our collaborating centre. With members from over 20 countries in the region, it aims to promote good practice regulation and cross-country learning on health workforce regulation.
