Revised registration standard for acupuncture endorsement

01 Mar 2022

The Medical Board of Australia’s (the Board’s) revised registration standard for Endorsement of registration for acupuncture for registered medical practitioners comes into effect from 1 July 2022.

There are no significant changes to the requirements for endorsement of registration for acupuncture. The revised registration standard aims to make current requirements clearer and removes outdated information.

Following public consultation on a draft revised standard, Australia’s Health Ministers approved the Board’s registration standard late last year.

The key changes to the standard are:

  • editorial changes to improve readability
  • requirements for continuing professional development (CPD) have been aligned with the Board’s registration standard for CPD
  • removal of expired transitional arrangements, and
  • a provision to grant endorsement to medical practitioners who were previously endorsed under the National Law through transitional arrangements, provided they meet recency of practice requirements.
